5 Steps You Can Take to Help You Believe in Yourself

I’ve found over the years, when I couldn’t achieve a goal I desired for myself, it was because of a lack of belief in the fact I could do it. This was especially true with wanting to stop alcohol.
It is a combination of my belief in God and belief in myself that helped me begin to accomplish what some would deem impossible.
Here are 5 tips that helped me to begin believing in myself, may they help you as well.
Literally Tell Yourself I Believe in You
Every morning you wake up, look in the mirror and say, “I Believe in You.”
“I know today may be challenging, but I can do hard things, I believe in you.”
You can even post sticky notes on your mirror or fridge that says, “I Believe in You.” “You Got This, and I Believe in You.”
By repeating this mantra throughout the day, believe it or not you will start believing in yourself and realize you can conquer tough situations.
Think of a Time When You’ve Accomplished a Difficult Task
Everyone has achieved something in their life. Maybe it was learning how to ride a bike, drive a car, paint a painting, raise children, make a delicious meal – something.
Reflect back to that time you’ve done something that maybe seemed impossible at one time, but you did it, you reached your goal.
Those special moments are proof that you are capable of setting goals and achieving them.
Recollecting those times will foster belief and positivity about who you are and prove you are capable of overcoming a challenge.
Attempt Something New and See How You Grow
By attempting a new activity such as pottery (or any activity you’ve always wanted to try but were scared to) and jotting notes on your daily progress or looking back at how much your skill has improved, will encourage you plus create stronger feelings of self-worth and self- belief.
Follow Through on What you Say you are Going to Do
If you make a commitment to yourself or someone else, follow through on that commitment. I must admit this is a tough one for me and I need major improvement in this area, however, I know that when I follow through with a task, I need to complete for the day, I feel a stronger sense of belief and faith in myself. I prove to myself I can accomplish my daily goals through self-motivation and commitment.
Take Time out of your Day to do Activities you Enjoy
Everyday schedule 30 minutes to an hour to do something you totally love and really get into while you’re doing it. For me this activity is drawing. I can sit and draw for hours. This takes my mind off any stressors I have plus it creates pleasure and satisfaction once my artwork is complete.
For you it may be going for a walk, reading, yoga, widdling, playing an instrument, or dancing and singing.
You can change this daily activity up too. Do something different for that daily retreat, get creative.
The point is to have fun and do something that makes you feel good while doing it and once you complete it.
