This fire in my heart did not start until the day I stepped away from that hot sweet liquid that wasn’t so sweet after all, it wasn’t until I left you that I discovered what sweet really is.
Sweet is waking up on a Saturday excited to see my daughter and take her out for coffee before she goes to work, not dreading the morning because I have a nauseous feeling in my stomach, a pounding headache, and hazy memory of the night before.
Sweet is waking up early in the morning, enjoying breakfast in the park and watching the sun rise.
Sweet is playing and running around with my dog and seeing how much she enjoys it.
Sweet is looking in the mirror and seeing life and light in my eyes.
Sweet is going on a camping trip for the sole purpose of enjoying each other’s company and the nature surrounding us.
Sweet is knowing I didn’t do anything foolish the night before.
Sweet is going to my daughter’s soccer game feeling crisp and clear, not praying for it to end so I can nurse a hangover.
Sweet is remembering the love making me and my partner had the night before, the memory crisp and clear making me smile.
Sweet is losing myself in a book so good I wish it wouldn’t end.
Sweet is creating something with my own hands.
Sweet is loving me and this life I’m creating

'Your windshield is bigger than your rearview for a reason; the mirror is there to help you glance back at where you’ve been, but if you focus too much on it, you’re going to crash.
We are ALL affected by our past and we are ALL reminded of it now and again, but we cannot live in it unless we want to repeat it over and over again. We need to learn from it, take lessons from it, know what’s good (and not good) for us, and adjust accordingly. Mistakes are only mistakes until we learn from them and then they become lessons.'
Love this from the Your Tango blog, it sums up the need for a forward focused growth mindset in sobriety and life in general.
Having an amazing time in #Japan and managed to head south out of Tokyo for a few days today to Kamakura by the ocean.
The drinking culture here is totally different to the UK, but all the bars are full, not many AF options either, but I wouldn’t want to visit such an amazing place and spoil it by boozing.
